You may find it difficult to figure out what to do with your children while you wait for the quarantine to be over. We would like to provide you with a few ideas for things that you can do with your children to keep your family entertained during this unprecedented time.

Family Movie Nights

With many businesses closing because of the Coronavirus, you and your kids may miss doing fun things like going to the movie theaters. However, you can now rent movies that are on the big screen from your house! Your children may want to see the new Disney movie, Onward, and you can now do so on different digital platforms such as Amazon Prime, Apple TV, or X-finity On Demand.

Additionally, streaming services such as Netflix and Disney+ have many family-friendly movies that you and your children can enjoy together. Turn the lights off, make some popcorn, and play a film. This could cause your kids to feel like they are in a movie theater and keep them entertained for a few hours.

Encourage Reading

Since schools are closed, you may be worried about your kids’ learning and how a break may disrupt their progress when they return to school. One thing you can do is encourage them to read. You may want to incorporate this idea into your family’s daily life by setting aside an hour each day for everybody in the house to read together.

To engage your kids, you could call it a family book club. After the hour, you could all discuss what you read and whether you liked it. You may also want to prompt your children to write a summary before they discuss the book with you. By motivating your children to read, this may improve their reading comprehension.

If you and your family need a book to read, World Book Online offers free eBooks for you and your family to use. You could all read the same novel to ensure that your children are understanding the content and so you can explain what any unfamiliar words mean to them.

Practice Healthy Habits

Staying at home for self-quarantine may cause you to be less active. It is imperative to stay healthy during these times. If you work out every morning, invite your kids to do the activity with you. This will motivate them to stay active, and it is something that you can do with them to bond.

Moreover, you can practice different mindfulness activities, such as meditation or deep breathing, to relieve some stress during this confusing time. It is important to remain relaxed and encourage your kids to do the same as it promotes healthy habits.

It is especially crucial to eat healthier to build your and your children’s immune systems. Ensuring that you and your family get your vitamins and nutrients from fruits and vegetables may help your bodies fight off any germs that come into the house.

Seek Guidance from a Family Law Attorney

While this list is not exhaustive, feel free to speak with one of our family law attorneys who can provide you with more tips to ensure that you and your children are enjoying your time together, especially if you are in a situation where you may be considering divorce due to an unhealthy or toxic relationship. There are still ways an attorney can move your family law matter forward. In the meantime, creating a loving and safe environment with family-fun activities is the best thing that you can do for your children during this time. They may feel lonely not being able to see their friends and having a disruption in their schedule but creating daily activities can provide them with the stability they need while in self-quarantine.
