What is the Difference between Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Income (SSDI)?

Each year, thousands of Georgians are unable to maintain stable finances due to disability, aging, or other health-related issues. In 2017, close to 260-thousand people received some type of disability payment from the Social Security Administration (SSA). Approximately 27-thousand of those recipients lived in Fulton County alone. The Social Security Administration has two programs that individuals who are seeking assistance for disability can file claims under. One program is Supplemental Security Income (SSI/Title XVI) and the other is Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI/Title II), with both programs having their own sets of technical qualifications. Therefore, understanding SSI vs SSDI can be confusing.
