Maria Keller is a family law attorney whose path to the legal profession was shaped by personal experience, advocacy, and a strong commitment to protecting children and families. She did not initially plan to become a lawyer, but her firsthand encounters with systemic inequities affecting children with special needs and their families led her to pursue a career in law later in life.
As a mother of 3, Maria faced these challenges firsthand. One of her children had special needs, and through her family’s journey, she saw how often children with disabilities and their families are treated as “less than” or undeserving of equal opportunities, dignity, and support. These experiences shaped her perspective and fueled her determination to improve advocacy for families like hers.
Once her children were in school full-time, Maria saw an opportunity to channel her lived experience into meaningful change. She pursued her legal education with a focus on advocacy and family-centered representation, earning her Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School. She identified family law as a natural extension of her purpose. In addition to family law, Maria assists clients with Estate Planning and Probate matters, as well as Elder Law issues. For over 20 years, she has advocated for children and families at every stage of life.
In 2021, Maria’s daughter Jordan passed away unexpectedly at age 23. While this loss profoundly altered her life, it also strengthened her resolve. She continues her family law practice in Jordan’s honor, guided by the belief that children with special needs and their families can lead full, impactful lives. Her mission is to empower families to navigate transitions, protect what matters most, and build legacies rooted in joy, love, and abundance. In recognition of her work, Maria was named a Rising Star for 2021–2022, a distinction awarded to top-rated attorneys.
