Erin lives with her three teenage children in Woodstock, Georgia, along with their menagerie of dogs, cats, ferrets, snakes, and lizards. She has a nineteen year old son, and two daughters, ages sixteen and fourteen. Her two older children are very active with their involvement at Camp Big Heart, a camp for special needs children and adults, and her youngest daughter is a camper at Camp Big Heart. They enjoy spending time at the Tennessee Aquarium, hiking and camping in the North Georgia Mountains, and kayaking on Lake Allatoona.
Her family is very important to Erin, and she maintains very close bonds to her parents and brother. They all live very close to each other and are able to frequently spend time together on her parents’ farm.
Erin has been divorced since 2006. At the time of her divorce, Erin was not sure how she was going to survive with three young children, the youngest who had just been diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, and her four dogs. Fortunately, her parents took all of them in which allowed Erin to obtain her paralegal certification through Kennesaw State University’s continuing education program. After graduating from the program, she was able to obtain employment as a paralegal and save up enough money to purchase a house for her children and their small zoo. Despite the difficulties of being a single mother and having a child with disabilities, Erin has been able to persevere and continue to grow in her career.
Erin graduated from the paralegal program at Kennesaw State University’s Continuing Education Program in 2007. She started out working at a firm that handled primarily criminal and family law cases; however, she soon found that she preferred family law over criminal and has worked primarily in family law since approximately 2008.
